Lake Of Sails day 8th  June 2008

This Open club event was well attended with a good turn out of club members and families

Events like this help to raise the awareness of th club within both the local community and visitors to Fleetwood.

The sailing events were once more run by our able Officer of the Day  ( OD) Jim Bennet. They consisted of a navigation course a 3 lap timed race, and a ladies navigation course. Part of the sailing events was to pick up a cargo at three points and successfully convey them back, on the boat, to the OD. The difficulty was that the cargo consisted of three tea bags which had to be carried by the boat in a dry condition.

The winners of the events were:-      The Club Commodore  Chris Croasdale  presented the prizes

Carl Richardson overall

Winner of the Lake of sails

Fred Baker won the visitors favorite boat

Daniel Richardson won the junior’s event

Patrice Entwistle won the Lady’s event.

David Smith gave us all a good chuckle with his

union jack shorts though they probably wouldn't’t

pass muster at Cowes week!!

Valerie Smith, Adele Richardson and Silvia Tweedle ran the canteen making sure

we were all well fed, but it was noted that they where reluctant to

sell the chocolate cake! Roy’s cake’s were a hit as always and much

appreciated helping to raise funds for the club.

Trevor Law’s Bring and Buy was popular and seems to be extending every time we have a bring and buy.

The number of visitors was up on previous years with many watching the sailing events and then coming into the club.

I would like to thank everyone who helped and took part in this event and Trevor Whitworth and John Hathaway for

the pictures of this event.                                                 See gallery for More photos.
