Mustangs at Fleetwood

Mustangs racing and on the bank awaiting starters orders, the white bits are not snow they are swans feathers

 The Mustang is a Una rigged sailing yacht  one design which is sailed only at Fleetwood.

The Mustang design was originally  designed and built at the Fleetwood club in the 1980's but after a period of interest , was superceded by other designs and  no longer sailed as a racing class. 

In many ways it was the for-runner of the Laser but did not achieve the same publicity or exposure , if it had who knows if it could have become a major sailing class.  Boats were sold to other clubs and skippers and appear all over the country

In 2001  a few members of the scale section found a number of old Mustangs, renovated them and started a sailing group for fun racing.  This group has grown, to about 15 skippers. A number of other mustangs have been found and there is now a regular sailing /racing activity on Tuesday  afternoons which is well attended . We are always on the lookout for more Mustangs, so if you have one you don't use, let use know.
